Prefecture of Chania

The western and greenest part of the island. Well known places are: Chania – the capital, Georgeopolis, Agia Roumeli and Chora Sfakion.

In this region you will find the Kournas lake, the Imvros gorge and the Samaria gorge. Places of interest are also Elafonissi and Gramvousa.
